Elton John Demands to Renegotiate Brexit for Musicians

The condemnation came after the revelation that UK had turned down an offer from EU that was in favor of the state’s musicians

Grammy Award winner Sir Elton Hercules John, who is an English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer condemned United Kingdom (UK) government for failing to reach an agreement with the European Union (EU) and pleaded to renegotiate the Brexit deal.

Elton John holds that it is crucial to renegotiate the Brexit deal to avoid damaging the career of many performing artists.

“Boris Johnson’s negotiators either didn’t care about musicians, or didn’t think about them, or weren’t sufficiently prepared”, the singer added.

The condemnation came after the revelation that the government in the UK had turned down an offer from the EU that was in favor of the state’s musicians.

“The situation we’re now in is ridiculous. Music is one of Britain’s greatest cultural exports”, the singer wrote in The Guardian, a British newspaper.

The star maintained that his intervention is not for himself but for a number of emerging artists with less financial resources.

As per sources, the UK voted to leave the EU in 2016 and officially left the trading bloc on January 31, 2020 under the Brexit deal to ensure neither side has an unfair advantage.

After which, the UK nationals will be needing a visa to stay in the EU.
