Tokyo 2020 Olympics Chief Mori Out Over Sexist Remarks
Yoshiro Mori was criticized for making sexist remarks about women and he ended up in quitting the position

According to the latest media reports, Yoshiro Mori, Chief of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics organizing committee will step down from his responsibilities over his sexist remarks about women.
In 2014, Mori was appointed to head the Olympic organizing committee.
In a meeting of the Japanese Olympic Committee on February 3, Mori said, “Women have a strong sense of rivalry… if one female member raises her hand to speak, everyone will think they need to say something too.”
Soon after his sexist remarks, the public protests began with no signs of abating and in result made 83-year-old Tokyo 2020 Chief quit from the position.
In addition to it, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reported that about 400 volunteers considered Mori’s remarks as a symbol of ‘absolutely inappropriate and in contradiction to the IOC’s commitments’ and decided to quit.

Although, Mori expressed his deepest apologies and remorse at a news conference on Thursday, refused to resign.
The organizer has disclosed that Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee will hold a meeting on Friday and the participants will exchange their opinions on President Mori’s sexist remarks.
However, officials comment that Saburo Kawabuchi, an 84-year-old Former President of the Japan Football Association is ready to preside over the charge of the organizing committee.
This leadership change in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics organizing committee from an 83-year-old man to an 84-year-old man propounds that Japan remains a male-dominated country with elder leaders gripping power in many areas.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics Chief Yoshiro Mori is expected to resign today over sexist comments.
However, the question remains who will replace him, after his hand-picked successor was forced to turn down the job under public criticism.
