Senate Tickets: Sindh-Balochistan Turn Nightmares For PTI

Clefts within PTI in Balochistan and Sindh organizations are laying bare as the poll is approaching

The upcoming senate election is turning out to be a nightmare for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as a series of recrimination has gained pace over the distribution of the tickets in Sindh and Balochistan.

Two PTI leaders from Sindh including Liaquat Jatoi and Saifullah Abro have engaged in a row as one is miffed over the award of senate ticket to the other.

Liaquat Jatoi, who has also served as the chief minister of Sindh and hails from Dadu, accused that the party leadership sold the ticket to Saifullah Abro for Rs 350 million.

He contended Abro joined the party just six months ago and raised questions under which criteria he has been given the ticket.

In response, Saifullah Abro has filed a defamation suit against the former chief minister and sent a notice of Rs 2 billion.

Terming the allegations abhorrent, the senate ticket-holder maintained he belongs to the middle class and would face Jatoi in the high court.

He thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for choosing a middle-class representative to represent the party in the upper house.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Shehbaz Gill also turned down allegations against Abro and asked Jatoi to substantiate his charges or else be prepared to face disciplinary action.

Gill said the former Sindh chief minister was himself facing a trial from National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Further, the nightmare for PTI has not just ended in Sindh but it has siphoned to Balochistan as well.

Balochistan Minister for Education Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind expressed that he was ignored in important matters.

“It has been two years I have not been able to meet Imran Khan despite being a part of the cabinet”, he complained.

Rind inculpated that Balochistan was facing unjust treatment in the distribution of Senate tickets.

The minister questioned the role of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the affairs of the party.

“Who is Sadiq Sanjrani? How is he related to PTI?” Rind said with a scowl on his face.
