Farhatullah Babar Steered ECP’s Code of Conduct in Favor

The political observers believe that it could be a personal standpoint of the PPP worker or he just misconstrued the term, ‘Pakistan service’

Ex-Senator Farhatullah Babar of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) misinterpreted the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the Senate election.

In a tweet, the ex-senator mentioned that ECP strictly spoke against the involvement of security agencies in approaching the candidates or voters in the election.

Referring to ECP’s code of conduct, he went on to say that the commission has declared the practice as a crime.

However, when the attached document was examined, no such instructions were found in black and white.

Although the commission only barred the president and governors from intervening or influencing the election in any manner, the document did not mention the word agency (ies).

It only highlighted the people in the service of Pakistan but it did not explicitly specify the name of ‘agencies’ as claimed by Farhatullah Babar.

The political observers believe that it could be a personal standpoint of the PPP worker or he just misconstrued the term, ‘Pakistan service’.

However, the political observers are convinced that a senior politician like Farhtullah Babar should avoid stating unsubstantiated claims which hold no value until in black and white.
