BTS debuted in 2013 and has been the first K-pop boyband to top the United States album charts.
The fame BTS relishes now is earned by the hard work of years. Since BTS’s debut seven years ago, the band has slowly climbed the stairs of success and popularity.
The boys remained the top-grossing touring group of 2019 and broke Billboard’s Social 50 chart record, and the band also garnered a number of positions on the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Hot 100 singles chart.
“BTS are a global phenomenon. They have had another outstanding year, releasing three albums, and continually finding creative and engaging ways to share their story with the world,” IFPI Chief Executive Frances Moore complemented BTS.
IFPI maintained that the award takes account of an artist’s worldwide performance in digital and physical music formats during the year.
