Messi, Ronaldo Exits From Champions League: Is it The End?

For after a decade and a half, the football fans will be surprised to watch the Champions League Round of 16 without Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who are aged 33 and 36 respectively.

The fans speculate if it’s the end of an era of just a coincidence or a bad-patch in the careers of both great football players.

This will be the first time after the Champions League 2004-05 Season that the teams of Messi and Ronaldo would not be part of the Round of 16 or quarter-finals.

Messi scored a long-range goal for his team Barcelona against PSG but missed a penalty. It cost much and thrashed the hopes of Barcelona and Messi’s fans and endorsed the team’s exit.

The match between Barcelona and PSG ended in a draw with 1-1 score but PSG proceeded to Round of 16 on an aggregate score of 5-2.

It was even before Barcelona’s exit that Ronaldo’s team was already out of the league as Juventus could not make it to the next round as well.

So far, Ronaldo has triumphed in the Champions League on five occasions while Messi has won four.
