President of Tanzania John Magufuli, being the most prominent Covid-19 skeptic, died and international media is surmising coronavirus as his death cause.

“It is with deep regret that I inform you that today we lost our brave leader, the president of the Republic of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli”.
President Magufuli, 61, was among those who dismissed the seriousness of coronavirus in Tanzania.
He was of the belief that “satanic virus can’t live in the body of Jesus Christ” and urged citizens to “pray coronavirus again”.
The president was absent from public appearances for the last two weeks and rumors were circulating about his mysterious health issues.

A few sources claimed that Magufuli had contracted Covid-19 but no official confirmation was made.
Tanzania is among the states that downplayed the existence of coronavirus and the authorities kept claiming that there was nothing to worry about the virus in the country.
The last information released by the country on the impact of coronavirus was in May, 2020 when 500 cases and 20 deaths were reported.
BBC quoted a doctor from Tanzania that there had been a marked increase in admissions of patients exhibiting respiratory symptoms consistent with Covid-19 over the past two months.
“You can’t put down Covid-19 because it is not recognized,” he says, “so it puts you in an awkward position as a doctor, and we’re getting no guidance on how to treat patients”, the doctor claimed.
Samia Suluhu Hassan is now the acting president of Tanzania.
She is going to be the first female to assume the office, while the date for her swearing-in is to be announced.
