Coronavirus Claimed Lives of 51 Doctors in KP

Amid third and deadliest wave of coronavirus, another medical practitioner died in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) taking the death toll of doctors who died of the pathigen to 51 in the province.
Dr Taufiq, who hailed from Mirza Diyar village of Charsadda district, was serving as a Dental Surgeon at Police Services Hospital in Peshawar.
According to Provincial Doctors Association (PDA), the doctor contracted coronavirus in the line of duty.
“Upon contracting the virus, Dr Taufiq had undergone self-isolation at home”, it added.
As per data by PDA, coronavirus has claimed the lives of at least 51 doctors in KP, including seven doctors who have died since February.
Under the given circumstances, doctors in the province have called upon the government to take emergency measures to ensure the safety of lives of frontline workers.

Earlier, in another case, Dr Anila Naseer contracted the virus and was moved on a ventilator but eventually, she succumbed to the disease after battling with it bravely.
According to reports, At least 984 new coronavirus cases emerged in KP during the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infections to 92,423.
As per health authorities, 17 more patients died of the deadly virus overnight as the death toll jumped to 2,457. As many as 590 patients recovered, taking the total to 78,880.
Pakistan’s death toll has climbed to 14,924 after 103 more people succumbed to the fatal virus during the last 24 hours.
