Jahangir Tareen Has Started Showing His Cards

Things went wrong for the sugar baron when his name was among the perpetrators of the sugar crisis

Business tycoon Jahangir Tareen has started showing his cards after he suddenly reappeared in the political landscape after a gap of months.

Things went wrong for the sugar baron when his name was among the perpetrators of the sugar crisis.

Prime Minister Imran Khan started to distance his close aide who was considered the strength behind bringing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) into power in Punjab.

Several prominent PTI leaders including Raja Riaz, Lala Tahir Randhawa, Raja Riaz, Noman Langrial, Salman Naeem, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Khurram Leghari, and Abdul Hai Dasti joined Tareen at the court hearing on Wednesday.

PTI leader Raja Riaz asserted people around Prime Minister Imran Khan were involved in hatching a conspiracy against Jahangir Tareen.

He also claimed that Imran Khan would not be able to get the vote of confidence from the national assembly if Tareen wasn’t there.

Although Tareen had categorically denied that he was joining any other party, he has managed to get the support of prominent figures in PTI’s Punjab organization.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syeda Shehla Raza, in a tweet, claimed that a meeting between PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Jahangir Tareen was scheduled next week.

She had also claimed that Tareen met his relative, PPP leader, and ex-Punjab governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, for this purpose too. However, she later deleted the tweet.

Recently, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered another two First Information Reports (FIRs) against Jahangir Tareen and his family members in money laundering and fraud charges in sugar scam.

As the future of Jahangir Tareen still looks vague in PTI, the political observers believe he has started showing his cards after prolonged seclusion.
