Shahid Khaqan Adamant to Strike NA Speaker With Shoe
“Speaking in the assembly is my right and if anybody is going to infringe it, I know the way to do it”
Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that he would not hold back hitting National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser with a shoe if he is not allowed to speak in the house on the issue of Namoos-i-Risalat.
Following the countrywide violent protest by outlawed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), the session of the lower house resumed on Tuesday amid a taut atmosphere.
The government tabled a resolution to start a debate on the expulsion of the French ambassador which was called for by TLP before it was banned.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Amjad Ali Khan tabled the resolution deploring the publication of caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by a French magazine Charlie Hebdo last year.
Then, another resolution was moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan that sought the formation of a committee to discuss prospects why or why not French ambassador should be sent back.
NA Speaker Asad Qaiser declared the resolution as ‘accepted’ after a voice note.
This exasperated former premier Abbasi who rushed to the speaker’s dais as he was angry at opposition members not being allowed to speak on the sensitive matter of Namoos-i-Risalat.
“Are you not ashamed?” Abbasi countered Asad. The speaker asked the ex-premier to curb his tongue.
In response, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said to the speaker that he would take off his shoe and hit him.
The brief altercation ended when the former premier returned to his seat.
As he was coming out of the assembly hall, News360 correspondent asked Abbasi if he still abided by what he said inside the hall or it was out of anger.
Abbasi replied he would not refrain from hitting the NA speaker with his shoe if he is not allowed to speak on the sensitive matter of Namoos-i-Risalat.
“Speaking in the assembly is my right and if anybody is going to infringe it, I know the way to do it”, he told the correspondent.
