German Gymnast Pleas Less Sensual Attire For Athletes

“I want female gymnasts to feel good in their skin, it was a strong message intended to go out that women were done with their bodies being ‘sexualized’ in the sport under the garb of aesthetics”

The last few years have been a tough ride for the gymnastic athletes after German gymnast Sarah Voss recalled that a team doctor of the champion US women’s team, Larry Nassar, had attempted molestation on several young atheltes as he found attire sexually appealing.

Dressed in a black ankle-length bodysuit with riffs of red, the German national is popular in balance beam, floor exercise, and uneven bars, stressed on the matter as she addressed at European Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Voss’s teammate Elisabeth Seitz also took the beam fully covered as a measure to back her partner.

Voss said, “She wanted female gymnasts to feel good in their skin, it was a strong message intended to go out that women were done with their bodies being ‘sexualized’ in the sport under the garb of aesthetics”.

She added, “We decided to show that a gymnast can be elegant, strong, and expressive even when wearing a full suit. It shouldn’t be a problem to deviate from the normal, the important thing is to feel good about yourself”.

Voss’s teammate Elisabeth Seitz commented “If only a little something slips, then everyone sees more than they should see”, as she scrolls through her picture on the internet.

She added, “The judges are close at the beam, and for some figures, you spread your leaping legs full throttle in front of the judges. That’s uncomfortable. That always bothered me”.
