Record of Test Matches Played Between Pakistan & Zimbabwe

The green shirts are all set to play their first test match against Chevrons but the history of red-ball cricket between both teams began in 1993-94 when the Zimbabwean team first set foot on Pakistani soil to play three test matches.  

So far, 17 Test matches have been played between both teams of which Pakistan has won 10 and Zimbabwe has won 3 while 4 matches have ended without any result.

1993-94

In 1993-94, the first test match of the three-match series between was played in Karachi in which the green shirts grabbed victory by 131 runs.

Whereas, the second test match of the series, played in Rawalpindi, was also won by Pakistan by 52 runs while the third and final game was played in Lahore but ended up in a draw.

1994-95

In 1994-95, Pakistan team visited Zimbabwe for the first time for a three test match series.

The first match was won by Chevrons by an inning and 64 runs.

The second game was played in Zimbabwe’s city Bulawayo in which the green shirts bagged victory by 8 wickets to level the series 1-1.

The visitors won the final contest by 99 runs and won the series 2-1.

1996-97

Later in 1996-97, Pakistan hosted a two test series in which the first game was played in Sheikhupura and produced no result.

The second and final test match of the series was played in Faisalabad and Pakistan bagged victory by 10 wickets and emerged triumped in the series.

1997-98

A year later in 1997-98, the green shirts visited Zimbabwe and the first test match of the series was played in Bulawayo and resulted in a draw.

However, in the second match played in Harare, the visitors beat the host by 3 wickets to win the series 1-0.

1998-99

In 1998-99, Zimbabwe toured Pakistan for three red ball games. The first test match between was played in Peshawar and Zimbabwe emerged victorious by 7 wickets.

Pakistan remained unfortunate in the series as the second game in Lahore was a draw and third match in Faisalabad was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Thus, the Zimbabwean team returned home after winning the test series 1-0.

2002-03

In 2002-03, the Pakistan team visited Zimbabwe where teams competed against each other in two test matches.

In the inaugural match played in Harare, the visitors defeated Zimbabwe by 119 runs while in the second contest played in Bulawayo, Pakistan scored victory by 10 wickets and returned home after winning the series 2-0.

2011

In 2011, the Pakistan team went to Zimbabwe to play a single test match in Bulawayo. The visitors won the five-day contest by 7 wickets.

2013

Before the latest test series, the last time Pakistan went to Zimbabwe to play test matches was in 2013 when teams faced off each other in two games.

In the first test match played in Harare, Pakistan registered huge margin win by 221 runs while in the second test match played on the same venue, the host saved the series and earned victory by 24 runs which made the series a draw.
