NA-249 by-Polls Started With Candies & Ended on Sweets
The constituency that was ruled by Faisal Vawda of PTI was hotly contested by political parties and PML-N’s Miftah Ismail ran a special electoral campaign to compete in the poll
NA-249 by-poll wrote an unconventional story for Miftah Ismail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as it started with distribution of candies and ended up receiving sweets (Mithai) from Saeed Ghani of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
The NA-249 constituency that was ruled by Faisal Vawda of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) was hotly contested by political parties and PML-N’s Miftah Ismail ran a special election campaign to compete in the poll.

Miftah Ismail actively carried out electioneering by distributing candies with his printed face on the wrapper.

Not only this, but PML-N leader also distributed pens with his name inscribed.
After the defeat of PML-N post recount, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani announced sending sweets to Miftah Ismail and he brought it about.
Ghani recalled that PML-N leader had announced that if PPP’s candidate won after recount, he would bring sweets to him.
“I don’t think PML-N candidate will keep his promise but I will send sweets to his house tomorrow,” he said in a presser.

The by-poll result of the constituency remained controversial as almost all political parties competing for it showed no confidence.
The final result declared PPP a winner but PTI and PML-N had feared foul play by PPP and ECP.
However, with the recounting of votes, PPP emerged victorious again in NA-249 by-poll with a greater margin.
