Will Careem Refund Exorbitant Fares Charged on Eid-ul-Fitr?

Journalist Faseeh Mangi raised voice against the taxi service for charging more than the actual amount

Soon after leading journalist Faseeh Mangi wrote his recent experience with popular taxi service Careem that charged exorbitant fares on Eid-ul-Fitr, he was instantly joined by several other internet users who decried the same.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the journalist raised his voice against the Careem application for charging more than the actual amount.

Interestingly, the taxi service didn’t show any transaction activity, however, Mangi’s bank account showed that the fares were charged in dollars, dirhams, and Kuwaiti dinars instead of local currency.

Following the ongoing debate about Careem charging astronomical fares on Eid, many users showed reservations about using the taxi application in the future.

In response to overcharging claims, the company’s management apologized to Faseeh Mangi and blamed the system glitch for the occurrence.

Further, they assured him of addressing complaints and to refund his money.

The fact that Faseeh Mangi being a renowned journalist got addressed by Careem’s management, many users have questioned whether others, who have been victims of fleecing, ever get their money back.
