JUST IN: Careem has charged massive amounts to multiple users in random global currencies because of some malfunction. I was charged about one lac Pakistani rupees ($660) for two rides! 1/3 pic.twitter.com/WLhCYux1K6

Interestingly, the taxi service didn’t show any transaction activity, however, Mangi’s bank account showed that the fares were charged in dollars, dirhams, and Kuwaiti dinars instead of local currency.
My card was charged in UAE dirhams, Kuwaiti dinar and dollars so there was a international transaction fees too. They say it will take about half a month to refund the amount and there is still no clarity if bank charges will be given or not 3/3

Following the ongoing debate about Careem charging astronomical fares on Eid, many users showed reservations about using the taxi application in the future.
In response to overcharging claims, the company’s management apologized to Faseeh Mangi and blamed the system glitch for the occurrence.
Further, they assured him of addressing complaints and to refund his money.
Hi Faseeh! We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Due to a technical configuration issue, you were charged an incorrect amount in another currency. Please be assured that your refund has been processed and the amount will be reimbursed as per banking procedure. (1/2)
