“For past three days, we have been facing this issue and made multiple complaints to the authorities”, one of the residents informed News360.
A house occupant, facing the issue, informed that fetid odor has engulfed the area which was quite difficult to bear.
She also revealed that the household’s kitchen recently caught fire but the authorities are still paying no heed.
“We had to contact workmen on our own, who after hours of exploration found out that the leakage is actually in the main sewerage line”, she added.
A lady of the house was of the view that the problem is lethal but the authorities are acting deaf and mute.
“It seems like only a tragedy can attract them”, she said.
Earlier in October 2020, a blast occurred in the vicinity of Gulshan-e-Iqbal that claimed five lives and left several injured.
The huge explosion inside a private bank in a multistorey residential building destroyed a portion of it and the bomb disposal squad reported that the blast was due to gas leakage.
However, as an established protocol, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) claimed that they had not received gas leakage complaint from the apartment’s occupants.
SSGC’s team had visited the area and maintained that there was no damage to any service line, valve, and gas meter at the site of the blast.
