Positivity Drops Below 3% But 0.3m Missed Second Dose

After taking a heavy toll, the coronavirus is losing steam as the country reported the positivity rate at 2.9% for the seventh consecutive time on June 8 but negligence continues to grow as 300,000 missed their second dose of covid vaccine.

The government and health officials are taking strict measures to ensure that every citizen is getting vaccinated timely and thereby continuous reminders are given.

Amid strict measures, Pakistan conducted a total of 46,882 tests during the past 24 hours of which 1,383 returned positive.

However, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar revealed some shocking facts regarding the second dose of the covid vaccine.

Head of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Asad Umar said, “Around 300,000 recipients of the first dose never returned to receive their second jab of the Covid-19 vaccine”.

An anonymous source of the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) said the second dose of the majority of the vaccines, except AstraZeneca, has to be administered after three weeks.

However, the situation might get critical if these people continue to be resistant towards getting the second dose as there are high chances of contracting the infection.

To ameliorate the current situation of covid vaccine administration, Asad Umar told they have set up call centers to convince people to get their second jabs.
