Pakistan is one of the two countries in the world that are still fighting poliomyelitis (poliovirus) due to misconceptions and myths related to the vaccine but the polio workers are diligently putting their efforts to combat it.
It is upsetting for the country, despite long-running campaigns starting in 1994, to co-join war-torn Afghanistan with still traces of the disease.
The polio workers in Pakistan are putting their lives at risk to fulfill their duties in a society that has been refusing the vaccine on social and religious grounds.

In the same instance in Jit, Rajanpur district of Punjab, an ardent polio worker swarmed up a tree to vaccinate a running child.
The child was in refusal to take the drops and the polio worker tried his best to cajole him.
Meanwhile, the child’s father intervened and the vaccine was administered.
Similarly, a few months back, a post appeared on Twitter that showed a hard-working polio worker and the non-cooperative behavior he encountered during his duty.

The anonymous vaccinator got lauded by several social media users for his dedication as the post went viral.
Notably, even after decades of campaigning against the virus, around 84 polio cases were reported in Pakistan in 2020 while only one case is reported so far this year.
