The workers in Japan scaled a giant statue of a Buddhist goddess and covered her face with a pink net-mask as a symbol to pray for Tokyo Olympics amid pandemic.
It took nearly 3 hours for 4 workers to don the mask that measured around 4.1 m by 5.3 m and weighing around 35 kg.
The 187 ft high statue of Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy, is located at Houkokuji Aizu Betsuin temple in Fukushima Prefecture.

The goddess was built 33 years ago with a baby in hands and it is hollow from inside, having a staircase that can lead the climbers to the statue’s shoulders.
The temple manager Takaomi Horigane said that they have a plan to keep the mask on the goddess until the covid-19 crisis.
Notably, the Tokyo Olympics have been highly targeted in Japan amid pandemic and the public wants it to be either canceled or postponed.
As per a report in BBC, a petition against the event has collected a record 420,000 signatures, and ten thousand registered volunteers have already quit.
Not only this, the hospitals and paramedics are also at odds with Tokyo Olympics.
On the other hand, Japan will decide in the coming days about the domestic spectators and as the word goes, nearly 10,000 people will attend the event.
