‘Negligence of Railways Staff Causing Derailment Mishaps’
Sources told most of the railway tracks are unfit and carriages are impaired but all is being run by ‘frugal innovations'
The criminal negligence of the staff of Pakistan Railways has resulted in causing concurrent derailment incidents in the country, particularly in Sindh.
A railways official, requesting anonymity, told News360 that most of the railroads are unfit but they are not being repaired and the trains are allowed to leave the yards with impairments.
The official added nine loaded freight carriages got off from the track at Kotri yard on Thursday owing to the negligence of the engineering department and poor condition of the railroad.
He told News360 that the railway is being run by ‘frugal innovations’.

The official added that even when the pressure gauge of the breaks doesn’t display correct reading, the high officials pressurize the staff to run the train.
He said that such incidents would keep happening if the safety rules are not observed.
It was also learned that the lower staff is pressurized to run the train even with malfunctioned wagons.
The official told that he recently inspected a rail in Karachi which didn’t have 12 brake brackets but he was still pushed to drive it which he refused.
However, the railways officials still let that train chugged off through another driver.
He said that most of the drivers and related staff don’t raise their voices on the issue which was against the interest of the department and country.
The official told News360 that frequent derailment incidents are occurring as overloaded hopper wagons move at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h).
He added that the freight wagons have a loading capacity of 65 tons but they are overloaded by up to 85 tons.
The poor tracks are also unable to bear the weight of the freight carriages, the official said.
He unveiled that this excess in loading capacity is not checked by corrupt staff.
He added that most of the express hopper freight trains of 4000 horsepower (hp) meet accidents as they are linked with old carriages that are unable to move that fast on the track.
He added that when a powerful engine of the high-speed train pulls the carriages, couplings often break which causes derailment.
The official suggested that mishaps could be brought down if the freight carriages are run with 2000 HP engine.
