The Senate deputy chairman believes that the State Bank of Pakistan wants to discourage online banking
Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwalla lashed out at the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for imposing a tax on online banking and declared it a ‘Ghunda Tax’.
While talking to News360, the Senate deputy chairman said that the tax was against the goal of documentation of the economy. It seems that the central bank wants to discourage online banking transactions, he added.

He said that the whole world facilitates people in internet banking, adding that the tax on transactions would benefit commercial banks.
He added that the Senate has rejected the bill for the exemption to political parties on filing tax returns, adding that no political party demanded it.
The deputy chairman said that ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was using such stratagems to carve ways to hide its defeat in the foreign funding case in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
