Will FIR Against Hunza Rave Party Hurt Tourism Efforts?

A rave party in Hunza has come under fire after its videos surfaced online and sparked fury among the netizens.

The local police have registered a first information report (FIR) against the organizers for spreading obscenity and use of drugs as alleged in the information surfaced regarding the rave party.

As many social media users have opposed the party citing it spread nudity, some are of the view that such extreme actions would harm tourism efforts in Pakistan.

It was alleged that the participants used drugs and spread obscenity in the party.

However, the show organizers have refuted such allegations. They said that the party which continued from June 11 to 13 was merely an event of music, arts and culture.

The people particularly youngsters from all over Pakistan participated in it, they told.

As per floating details, the ticket price ranged between Rs 7,500 and Rs 50,000.

After videos have emerged, Hunza Deputy Commissioner (DC) said that they would question the hotel management over it.

He added that the management violated the conditions settled for the organization of the event.

It is also being speculated on social media that the many showbiz actors and actresses including singer Atif Aslam and Ushna Shah were part of the rave party too.

However, actress Ushna Shah denied it and she wrote an elongated note to highlight the toxic culture of leveling allegations prevalent in society.

Amid the rage against it, many social media users have showed their support for the gathering.

They say that the government is trying to promote tourism in the country and no such thing occurred at the party that the administration had to resort to the registration of FIR.

They contended that such harsh actions would portray a negative image of the country abroad, adding that foreign tourists would become reluctant to visit Pakistan.

In January this year, a case was registered against the students from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) for organizing and participating in a dance party at Malam Jabba in Swat Valley.
