Three Muslim Indian Journalists Likely to See Jail
Rana Ayyub, Saba Naqvi, and Mohammed Zubair were accused of conducting a criminal conspiracy for just posting tweets about a video
An elderly Muslim man was forced to shave his beard and chant Jai Shri Ram in an incident earlier this month following which Delhi police registered a case against three Indian Muslim journalists for their tweets in support and chances are that they may soon land in jail.
The three Indian Muslim journalists named Rana Ayyub, Saba Naqvi, and Mohammed Zubair were accused of conducting a criminal conspiracy for just posting tweets about the incident.
The charges against them include provocation to cause a riot, promoting enmity between religious groups, insulting religious beliefs, public mischief, criminal conspiracy, and common intention to commit a crime.

According to details, each of three Indian Muslim journalists is therefore facing a possible combined sentence of nine years and six months.
However, Reporters Without Borders (RSF), an international organization for the safeguard of journalists, called on the police of India’s Uttar Pradesh (UP) to immediately withdraw the charges.
The accusation brought by the Uttar Pradesh police is based on absolutely no tangible element and clearly amounts to judicial harassment,” said Daniel Bastard, the Head of RSF’s Asia-Pacific Desk.
On the other hand, the video of the incident that went viral was also shared and commented on by India’s leading media outlets including The Times of India.
Earlier, the police also summoned Twitter’s top India official for spreading communal hatred.
Notably, in early June, in Ghaziabad, elderly Abdul Samad Saifi was allegedly held captive and beaten by a group of men who forced him to chant a Hindu slogan.
Meanwhile, Delhi police maintained that the incident occurred as Samad provided the suspects with a wrong amulet that didn’t work for them.
