The irregularities in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have ramped up to a point that the Sindh government has decided to appoint Murtaza Wahab as the administrator.
The latest corruption scandal in KMC is about the missing record of 178 contractual employees regularized in 2020.

The current HRM director said that the official leaving the seat didn’t submit the record of 178 regularized workers and sought provision of it at the earliest.
Further, Sindh Anti-Corruption Establishment had also sought the record of related employees from the corporation in June.
The burgeoning irregularities in the KMC have paved for Sindh government to appoint Murtaza Wahab as the administrator of Karachi.
It has been learned through well-placed sources that Sindh Secretary has also prepared a summary in this regard.
Murtaza Wahab is currently serving as the Spokesperson of the Sindh government.
Sources said the appointment would be finalized once Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah returns from the US.
The elected representatives of the local government completed their tenure in August last year. Since then, the biggest city of Pakistan is being run through an administrator.
The analysts opine that KMC’s directorship is a purely bureaucratic position and it would be a task for a political person to fix the administrative affairs of the corporation and bring things back on track.
