25th CNS Golf Championship Hosts Over 30 Female Players

The event has categories of professionals, junior professionals, amateurs, seniors, veterans, and females

The 25th Chief of the Naval Staff Open Golf Championship 2021 that commenced yesterday will continue till July 11 with more than 600 participants including over 30 female golf players from all across Pakistan.

The event, which started in 1995, has categories of professionals, junior professionals, amateurs, seniors, veterans, and females.

News360 correspondent attended the inauguration ceremony of the championship and interviewed Patron PN Golf (South), Commodore Muhammad Vaqar.

He told the championship began 25 years ago with the aim to support golf on the national level.

While replying to a question regarding the female golf players, he maintained that the event has come a long way.

He added that with the increasing participation of players especially female golfers, it can be assumed that the players will be able to represent Pakistan internationally in near future.

“We need to give exposure to the game through media to attract people”, he added.

News360 also interviewed the avid female golfer Lady Captain Fawzia Naqvi who was of the view that championship holds a great significance for the players.

“Over 30 female golf players are taking part in the championship and nearly 600 participants have joined the event happening for 25th time”, she said.

The event shows the commitment of Pakistan Navy in pursuing the cause of nurturing sports at national level.
