First Monsoon Rain Brings Casualties, Devastation in Karachi
Besides several minor incidents triggered by rainfall reported in the city, a 14-year-old boy and three sacrificial animals were electrocuted
Karachi received its first monsoon rain on Monday but it came with a price as a teenage boy and three sacrificial animals were electrocuted in separate incidents.
The first monsoon rain disrupted Karachi much like every year as heavy traffic jams, flooded roads, and prolonged power outages were witnessed on the day.
Besides several minor incidents triggered by rainfall reported in the city, a 14-year-old boy and three sacrificial animals were electrocuted.
Hammad Khursheed, a student of 7th grade, was the resident of Malir Halt who was enjoying rain with friends outside when he was jolted after getting in contact with an electric pole.

As per details shared by Hammad’s family, he was on his way with friends to meet his cousins when the incident happened.
The incident took place near his residence and the parents were informed by his friends but by the time they reached, it was too late. The locals and family members blamed K-electric for the loss.
The victim’s parents said the power supply company had declared the related electric pole dead.
In another incident, three cattle bought for Eid-ul-Azha also died of electrocution in separate incidents reported on Monday.
