Danish Cartoonist Who Caricatured Prophet Muhammad Dies

The artist was condemned globally by the Muslims for creating 12 drawings under the headline “The Face of Muhammad”

Infamous Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, who created the caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) dies after  prolonged illness at 86.

The Danish cartoonist was responsible for hurting the sentiments of Muslims and his cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) outraged the community in 2005.

The notorious cartoonist started his career in the early 1980s and became known throughout the world for his controversial image.

As per details shared by his family, Kurt died in his sleep after battling long for life.

The artist was condemned globally by the Muslims for creating 12 drawings under the headline “The Face of Muhammad”.

The outrage against the caricatures escalated into anti-Danish violent protests across the Muslim world.

The demonstrations resulted in a heated debate on Islamophobia and about the limitations of freedom of expression.

Danish embassies were attacked and Kurt received several death threats that compelled him to spend his life in a heavily fortified home.
