Showbiz Stars Join Chorus Against Spiraling Gender Violence

Mahira Khan, Mehwish Hayat and Sanam Jung shared their thoughts on social media

Following the uproar over Noor Mukadam case, showbiz personalities have also advanced to raise voice against the sexual and gender violence mushrooming in society.

The showbiz star Mehwish Hayat expressed her thoughts on Twitter and maintained that to eliminate sexual and gender violence, there is a dire need for society to change itself.

“Laws are there – we need to make the enforcement more rigorous and less traumatic for the victim”, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz laureate wrote.

While touching on the judicial system of Pakistan, the actress expressed that the process of justice is daunting, ineffective, and outdated.

She added that all society members have a right to live safely, free from violence and abuse.

Not only Mehwish, actress Mahira Khan also sprung up on Twitter and shared Prime Minister Imran Khan’s interview clip regarding sexual crimes.

The actress shared the clip of the premier’s interview to an international channel where he expressed that the person who commits rape is fully responsible for the crime.

Mahira Khan captioned the post as ‘Louder’.

Apart from this, actress and host Sanam Jung also shared a portrait of Noor under the hashtag #JusticeForNoor.
