Federal Minister of Information Fawad Chaudhry revealed the impetus behind the New Zealand cricket team’s withdrawal from the ODI series.

The minister revealed that the tour was canceled due to a fake social media post with the name of TTP commander Ehsanullah Ehsan.

Two days later, an article was published in The Sunday Guardian written by Abhinandan Mishra that too stated that the team could get attacked in Pakistan.

“The news published in The Sunday Guardian featured Ehsanullah Ehsan’s post”, Fawad Chaudhry said.

Not only this, the minister told media that a threatening email was sent to New Zealand’s player Martin Guptill’s wife that stated a life threat to the player.

Another email was sent after the tour cancellation with an ID under the name Hamza Afridi.

Fawad Chaudhry also revealed that the device which was operating the ID was operating 13 other email addresses.

“All IDs were generated on the names of Indian actors and drama celebrities”, he added.
