Is Imran Khan’s Scorn on Asif Zardari Justifiable?
Imran Khan blamed former president and PPP co-chairman for letting Americans target Pakistanis
Prime Minister Imran Khan penned down a column for The Washington Post with the title ‘Don’t blame Pakistan for the outcome of the war in Afghanistan’ and criticized former president Asif Ali Zardari for his role in the war.
The premier maintained that Pakistan made huge sacrifices for United States (US) in the war on terror but no mention was made about it.
He wrote that the US used Pakistan’s soil to fight the war against terror and the country suffered more than 80,000 casualties and lost over $150 billion in the economy.

Not only this, Imran Khan blamed former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for letting Americans target Pakistanis.
“President Asif Zardari, undoubtedly the most corrupt man to have led my country, told the Americans to continue targeting Pakistanis because “collateral damage worries you Americans. It does not worry me.” Nawaz Sharif, our next prime minister, was no different”, he added.
PM also inculpated former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the same.
The statements by Imran Khan weren’t well-received by the supporters of PPP in Pakistan.
The PPP stalwarts are of the view that the premier has needlessly poured scorn on their leader.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan supporters recalled the article written by Asif Ali Zardari the same day when Osama bin Laden was killed by the US.
Asif Ali Zardari admitted in the article ‘Pakistan did its part’ that his country joined hands with the US to silence the greatest evil of the new millennium.
“A decade of cooperation and partnership between the United States and Pakistan led up to the elimination of Osama bin Laden as a continuing threat to the civilized world”.
