Karachi Braces For Destructive Gulab Cyclone

Karachi and coastal parts of Sindh are going to be hit by torrential rains owing to the low-pressure system developed by the cyclone dubbed Gulab.

The cyclone has regained strength in the northern part of the Arabian Sea from Wednesday owing to which there will be scattered heavy rainfall in Karachi and parts of Sindh till October 2, Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) predicts.

The megacity has experienced hot temperatures even after sunset since Tuesday.

PMD said torrential rains might cause urban flooding in Karachi, Thatta, Hyderabad, Dadu, Lasbela, Sonmiani, Ormara, Pasni, Gwadar, Turbat, and Jiwani.

Different parts of Karachi experienced torrential rains on Monday owing to a microburst.

Further, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has also issued an alert for Jinnah International Airport (JIA) after the rain forecast in Karachi in the wake of the Gulab cyclone.

All related authorities have been advised to remain vigilant and take extra precautionary measures.
