The Other Side of Imran Khan’s Absence From Funerals

It is believed that the premier stays away from funerals on the advice of his 'spiritual adviser' Bushra Bibi

Prime Minister Imran Khan maintained his norm of not attending funerals for which he was chided but there is a psychological aspect to it.

Prime Minister Imran Khan didn’t show up at the funeral of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, dubbed as the father of the nation’s atomic bomb, held on Sunday soon after his death early morning.

He had expressed condolences with Dr Abdul Qadeer’s family and ordered all cabinet members to attend the funeral.

However, he was not present there which many started linking with the suggestion of his wife who is believed to be the ‘spiritual adviser’ of Imran Khan.

Some journalists believe that Imran Khan has been advised to keep himself away from funerals as it will not prove a good omen for his rule.

Gharidah Farooqi had also written a topic on the same subject in January this year.

However, non-attendance in mourning gatherings has a psychological view.

Some people are considered to be emotionally unstable and tend to avoid mourning gatherings and it can be assumed that this is the case with the premier.

The criticism on his non-attendance in the funeral of Dr Abdul Qadeer and towing it with the advice of first lady Bushra Bibi doesn’t go hand in hand.

In May 2013, PTI’s stalwart Zahra Shahid Hussain was gunned down in Karachi and her death had come as a shock for Imran Khan.

He had expressed grief over the loss of a party worker who was among the founding members of PTI.

Interestingly, Imran Khan hadn’t attended her funeral as well which was way before he was married to Bushra Bibi.

Notably, Imran Khan had also not participated in the funeral of philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi in 2016.
