Balochistan’s Share in Billion Tree Project is Only 6m Saplings
Planning Commission officials disclosed before the senate panel that only 6 million saplings had been in planted in the province covering 45% area of Pakistan
Balochistan, the province covering the largest area, goes neglected in the Billion Tree Tsunami project as only 6 million saplings have been planted there under the program so far.
This was revealed in the meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives which was convened by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla.
Planning Commission (PC) officials disclosed before the senate panel that only 6 million saplings had been in planted in the province covering 45% area of Pakistan.
The committee chairman expressed extreme displeasure and asked PC officials why such a low target was set for Balochistan.

He also asked where these saplings had been planted and what size they have grown to.
Mandviwalla said he didn’t see any trees in Balochistan and instructed the ministry of climate change (MoCC) to submit details of saplings planted across the country.
