Two sentenced to death for raping, killing nine-year-old girl

Convicts strangled Zeenat Imran after raping her in March

RAWALPINDI: Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka has sentenced two convicts to death for raping and murdering 9-year-old third class student Zainab Imran and awarded seven years in prison to their accomplice for concealing the crime.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, while delivering the judgment, remarked that the perpetrators of rape and murder cases are sentenced double capital sentence and fined Rs500,000 each while their accomplice awarded seven-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs100,000.

The brutal incident took place on March 22 this year in Jhanda Chichi, a densely populated area of ​​Rawalpindi’s Civil Line police station. The student was going to buy something at the shop when the culprit Babar Masih called her home by deception and locked the room and raped her. The second convict Adnan also raped the girl and later they both strangulated to death the student. Babar Masih’s wife Anita alias Aniqa was also present at the house at the time of the incident but she did not raise noise and did not try to save the girl.

The court ruled that the culprits should be hanged until they die. This is a heinous crime and the culprits do not deserve any concession.

Following the court verdict, the three convicts were shifted to Adiala Jail

It is pertinent to mention that after this incident riots broke out in Rawalpindi. Thousands of citizens protested and offered funeral prayers in front of Civil Line police station.

According to the police, the culprits hid the body under the bed but after the incident, the wife of the accused Babar locked the house and fled.
