Aqeel Karim Dhedhi announces Rs120 million for Karachi Press Club

Rs10m to be used for treatment of journalists, their families at Kutiyana Memon Hospital while Rs2m for club's canteen.

AKD Group Chairman Aqeel Karim Dhedhi has announced Rs120 million package for the Karachi Press Club (KPC) and journalists.

The package includes Rs10 million medical grant to be used for treatment at the Kutiyana Memon Hospital while Rs2 million for the club’s canteen.

The package was announced by AKD Group Chairman Aqeel Karim Dhedhi during a visit to the KPC.

On the occasion, Aqeel Dhedhi said that the journalist community is playing an important role in the development of the country, but steps being taken to address their problems are insufficient.

He said that journalists have to face medical problems continuously so Rs10 million are being allocated annually for the Kutiyana Memon Hospital, which will only treat journalists and their families.

He has said that he is ready to play the role of bridge to solve the problems between the journalists and the government.

On this occasion, Karachi Press Club President Fazil Jemili, Secretary Muhammad Rizwan Bhatti, Farooq Sami, Abdul Wasi Qureshi, former secretary A.H Khanzada, Ehtisham Mufti and others were also present.

Aqeel Dhedhi said that journalists have an important role to play for the development of the country and the strengthening of institutions. Journalists face many problems regarding medical facilities.

He also announced Rs2 million for the construction of new canteen of Karachi Press Club. The AKD chief said that on the reservations of journalists regarding PMDA he is ready to play the role of bridge between the government and journalists. If journalists want, they can talk to the government and arrange a meeting between the journalists and the government in this regard.

He further said that he is ready to talk to every forum regarding the issues of journalists. He is also ready to cooperate with journalists regarding the Prime Minister’s Low-Cost Housing Scheme. If the list of journalists is provided, he will play his full role in this regard.

On the occasion, KPC Secretary Muhammad Rizwan Bhatti thanked Aqeel Karim Dhedhi and said that journalists face a lot of difficulties with regard to medical facilities. This move will get relief to journalists.

President Fazil Jamili also appreciated the steps taken by Aqeel Karim Dhedhi for the welfare of journalists.
