Indian journalist declared Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed an ideal personality

The CJ will visit the Teri Temple in Karak to celebrate Diwali festival today.

Justice Gulzar Ahmad, the Chief Justice of Pakistan will visit the Teri Temple in Karak to celebrate Diwali festival today. His visit aims to express solidarity with the local Hindu community as last year a mob had demolished the temple.

The Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) had arranged a special function to celebrate Diwali today in the presence of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and and other dignitaries. A large number of Hindu pilgrims will arrive from Balochistan and Sindh to join the Diwali celebrations.

India journalist Ashok Swain wrote on Twitter: “Pakistan Supreme Court’s Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmad will celebrate Diwali at Karak Hindu temple tomorrow. The temple was attacked last year by Muslim fundamentalists. Judiciary in other countries needs to take lessons from it.”

Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, the PTI MNA and PHC patron-in-chief has said that presence of the Chief Justice at the Diwali celebration would give a strong message to the miscreants.

Last year on Dec 30, over 1,000 people led by some local clerics had demolished the temple.

Later,  the Supreme Court of Pakistan a took suo motu notice of the attack.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan had ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to restore the temple to its original condition. It also directed the government to recover Rs33 million from the miscreants involved in razing the century-old temple.
