Contest of old friends Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer as Pakistan face Australia in semi-final

Greenshirts will go for changing history by defeating Kangaroos in knock out game.

Pakistan will take on Australia in the second semi-final of T20 World Cup tonight. Like the New Zealand, who beat favorite England, Pakistan will have to change the history by defeating Australia in an ICC knock out match.

Kangaroos have won all four ICC knockout matches against greenshirts. In the 1987 World Cup semi-final, Australia beat Pakistan, Kangaroos won the 1999 World Cup final. Australia also emerged victorious in 2010 semi-final and 2015  World Cup quarter-final.

On the other hand, Pakistan had won their all the last 16 T20 matches played in the UAE.
The Australian squad has the country’s three highest T20I run scorers including Finch, Warner and Maxwell. Besides, the two highest wicket-takers – Zampa and Starc – are also the part of Kangaroos’ current squad.
Interestingly, today’s contest is also between Australian coach Justin Langer and his old teammate and friend Matthew Hayden, the batting consultant of Pakistan team.

Tonight, the two former Australian teammates and friends will be going up against each other.

The Australian opening pair had shared a lot of memorable moments as teammates when they were part of the country’s national team.

Earlier, Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley had announced their tour to Pakistan next year in March after 24 years.

He took to twitter and said: “Cricket Australia is excited about the prospect of touring Pakistan next year for what will be a highly anticipated series in a country so incredibly passionate about the game and their national team.”

Cricket pundits are seeing this development in the backdrop of Pakistan teams’ world class performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup. The Greenshirts have sealed top position in the mega event’s Group II. They will play against Australia in the semi-final.
