Jobless journalist commits suicide

The father of five daughters had been jobless since June. He was last employed at Express Media Group, from where he was fired.

After losing the job, the journalist started driving a rickshaw to make both ends meet. But, he continued to face financial problems due to rising fuel prices.

He became hopeless when he failed to repay a loan of Rs70,000 and ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Hussain Chaudhary has said that the media is in the hands of a few people, which is why it is causing a big loss to the Pakistan.
Talking exclusively to News360 in Islamabad, the federal minister said that the Journalist Protection Bill has been approved by parliament, The president will soon sign it, after which it will become a law. He said that reforms have been made for the first time by this bill for the working journalists. Earlier, reforms were made only for seths (businessmen).
