ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Javed Khan has submitted a resolution in the Upper House for fixing royalties to the artists from the entertainment industry.
The federal government has taken a major step for resolving a long time issue of royalties to the artists from the entertainment industry.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan, the chairman of the standing committee on information and broadcasting, submitted a resolution to the Senate to resolve the long time issue of artists being neglected in royalties for their work.
He said in a Twitter thread, “Cognizant of the fact that the artists from the entertainment industry have been facing the issue of rightful and just royalties for a long time that tantamount to misuse of copyrights.
Faisal Javed Khan said that he submitted a resolution in the Senate of Pakistan to address the issue.
He added that its objective is to empower the Copyright Board to fix the royalties for licensing and assignment of work and ensure the payments to the artists whenever their work is used in any mode.
