‘Tokri’ fight: Nusrat Javeed, Maleeha Hashmey lock horns after PML-N leaders’ audio leak

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Nusrat Javeed and anchorperson Maleeha Hashmey have locked horns over ‘Tokri [basket]’ of gifts after the alleged audio leak of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, Maryam Nawaz and Pervaiz Rasheed.
Nusrat Javeed and Maleeha Hashmey engaged in a Twitter spat after the alleged audio leak of Maryam Nawaz and Pervaiz Rasheed in which the PML-N central leaders were discussing to send some baskets of gifts to the journalists.

She was responded to a tweet of Nusrat Javeed, saying, “Please name the person and his RANK who was desperate to get 8 O clock slot for you at APP and WHY Ma’am?!”

Nusrat Javeed had tweeted, saying, “Indus was not CONSIDERING you at all. You wanted 8 O clock slot at AAP. And to help you, someone with a RANK used his influence. It didn’t work is a different issue and AAP also vanished in air. Now please tell the name and RANK of your promoter please.”

The senior journalist and renowned columnist Javeed had earlier admitted, “I received a TOKRI from PM office in 2017 indeed. Yet @MaleehaHashmey should explain who forced AAP TV to hire her in 2009. His name and rank PLEASE.”

Another audio leak of PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz had surfaced yesterday in which she was allegedly talking to former information minister Pervaiz Rasheed regarding the contacts with the media houses.
In the audio leak, they were allegedly talking about Geo News DN Rana Jawad and senior journalist Nusrat Javed without taking their names that had been sent two baskets as gifts by the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Moreover, Pervaiz Rasheed was also talking about senior analyst Hafeezullah Niazi and anchorperson Babar Sattar in the alleged telephonic conversation with Maryam Nawaz.

After the audio leak, Nusrat Javeed is defending himself by responding to the allegations in which he clearly admitted to accepting gifts from different personalities.
On the other hand, Geo News DN Rana Jawad kept a complete silence over the speculations, making the scenario more suspicious when media personalities are being blamed for becoming part of politicians’ propaganda campaigns after receiving gifts.
