Sindh Education Dept. Decides No Winter Holidays in Sindh

The steering committee of the education department decided not to close the educational institutions.

KARACHI: The steering committee of Sindh Education Department has decided that there will be no winter holidays in Sindh and SOPs in educational institutions will be strictly enforced.

A meeting of the steering committee of the education department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani.

The meeting was also attended by secretaries of schools, secretarial colleges and chairmen of education.

The steering committee decided not to close the educational institutions.

It was also decided in the meeting that the educational institutions which want to go for online education can continue.

Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that the purpose of today’s meeting was to decide the position of Sindh in consultation with the stakeholders.

He further said that there is no doubt that the number of cases of covid is increasing. If we look at the statistics of the last few days, the rate of positive cases has gone up to 3.7 percent.

The meeting also consulted on the recommendations of the NCOC.

Saeed Ghani said that the federation was asking for winter holidays from December 25 to January 10.

He said that the federation was of the view that parents should go to schools and take weekly homework from the teachers and children should be educated at home instead of going to school from November 25 to December 24.

The Sindh Education Minister said that the decisions of the steering committee will be communicated to the NCOC, and after the NCOC input, the final decision will be taken after consultation with the Sindh Chief Minister and Health Minister.
