PPP Punjab leaders no-show at Bilawal Bhutto’s power show in Sargodha
PPP senior leaders from Punjab remained absent from Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari-led power show in Sial Sharif
SARGODHA: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leaders from Punjab remained absent from Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari led power show in Sial Sharif, a village in Sargodha district on Sunday.
Interestingly, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had made a general call to the Punjab people during the Sial Sharif power show for supporting PPP to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan-led federal government. However, the PPP chairman was not joined by the central leaders of his own political party in the crucial public gathering.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is currently leading warm-up public gatherings ahead of PPP’s long march to Islamabad on February 27 to topple the incumbent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
During his arrival in Sial Sharif, former PTI ticket holder from NA-92, Pir Sahibzada Naeemuddin Sialvi made a formal announcement to join PPP along with his associates. However, PPP central leaders from Punjab are a no-show.
Sources said that PPP leaders expressed their strong reservations over the party’s splaying decisions amid the preparations for a strong campaign to topple the government.
PPP senator slams Yousaf Raza Gillani, opposition as Senate passes SBP bill
The reservations have peaked amongst the PPP senior leaders after the recent happening in Senate in which the federal government managed to make the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) amendment bill sail through the House in the absence of the opposition leader Yousaf Raza Gillani.
Sources added that the internal differences are behind the absence of PPP’s senior leaders from the crucial power show of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in Sial Sharif.
In a glimpse, a PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar had slammed the Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House Yousaf Raza Gillani and the opposition leadership in general as the Senate passed the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill 2021 despite protest from the opposition benches.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar had strongly criticised the absence of Yousaf Raza Gillani as the opposition leader in the Senate from the session in which the federal government led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) managed to pass the SBP amendment bill despite the majority of opposition lawmakers in the Upper House.
The Senate had approved the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill 2021, aiming to grant complete autonomy to the central bank, presented by the Finance Minister Senator Shaukat Tarin with a slight lead of 43 members over the opposition’s 42.

In a Geo News programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, PPP Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar had blamed the opposition central leaders for taking the wrong decision to seek the support of the Dilawar Khan group for electing Gillani as the opposition leader in the Senate.
He had admitted that he faced criticism from inside his own political party for criticising the central leadership. He had said that the time is now proving his claims true. He alleged that the government has deliberately sent their lawmakers to shake up the opposition’s unity on important legislation.
It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government, despite the tall claims of the opposition leaders to block its passage in the Senate, passed the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Amendment Bill 2021 on Friday.
