Usman Manzoor praises govt for making PTV profitable entity

Usman Manzoor praised the federal government for making the state television Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) a profitable entity.

The editor of Fact Focus and former investigative reporter of The News, Usman Manzoor praised the federal government for making the state television Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) a profitable entity.

In a Twitter message, Usman Manzoor said that PTV had earned Rs1 to 3 billion profit in 2021 after recovering the financial loss of Rs620 million in 2017. He added that the positive outcomes were witnessed due to the efforts of MD PTV, Fawad Chaudhry, PTV CHRO Tahir Mushtaq and Aoun Sahi.

The journalist said that PTV employees are getting timely pensions and no recruitments were being made. He added that the journalists wanted to see PTV as an impartial and reputable entity. Manzoor expressed hopes that the federal government will continue their efforts to bring further improvements to state television.

Earlier in October last year, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had announced that PTV has finally started generating profits after spending decades in deficit.

The minister had shared a post on Twitter that said, “After a long deficit, Pakistan Television is making a profit of Rs 1.3 billion this year”. He had congratulated the management and the workers of PTV in his post.
