Masjid Wazir Khan case: Saba Qamar, Bilal Saeed’s acquittal pleas rejected
The acquittal pleas of actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed have been dismissed in the Masjid Wazir Khan case.
LAHORE: The acquittal pleas of actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed have been dismissed in the Masjid Wazir Khan case and the court summoned them for indictment.
The actor and singer appeared in the hearing along with their lawyer. Their counsel said that the First Information Report (FIR) had been filed after 10 days of delay while the accused were declared innocent in the inquiry of the Punjab Auqaf Department.
The counsel said that the actor and singer did not commit any immoral action in the mosque, no dance and music took place at the site.
The prosecutor apprised the court that Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed had danced in the mosque and a video of the dance was also available.
Opposing the acquittal, a prosecutor argued that the petitioners performed dance in the mosque. He said a video of the dance was available with the prosecution. He asked the court to dismiss the acquittal applications of the petitioners and let the prosecution establish its case with evidence.
Later, the judicial magistrate dismissed the acquittal pleas of Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed in the Masjid Wazir Khan desecration case and summoned them on March 16 for indictment.
