Sanam Saeed, Hasan Kazmi in Twitter spat over criticism against cinemas

Sanam Saeed criticised cinemas for not putting up any of Ishrat Made in China posters which did not go well with the journalist Hasan Kazmi.

Actress Sanam Saeed, whose latest flick with Mohib Mirza ‘Ishrat Made in China’ hit the theatres on March 3, criticised cinemas for not putting up any of her film posters which did not go well with the journalist Hasan Kazmi.

Sanam Saeed took to Twitter to launch criticism, saying, “A little disappointed in #nuplexcinemas for not putting up any of our film posters, especially on Rashid Minhas Road. People will always come to see superhero films. They have a long legacy behind them. Pakistani films need cinemas support. @JBFilmsPK please see to it.”

To this, Nueplex Cinemas clarified that her film, Ishrat Made In China was given two dedicates screens throughout opening weekend at Askari IV which only had an occupancy of 11.89 per cent, whereas, the occupancy at DHA was 13.37 per cent.

This matter was apparently resolved as Saeed replied, “Thank you for your response. Really appreciate the clarification. Didn’t know how else to get through. Issue resolved. Thank you for your time and support.”

Later, a journalist from Independent Urdu Hasan Kazmi came in and taunted that the viewers have rejected Ishrat Made In China starring Sanam Saeem and Mohib Mirza as only 80 tickets were sold in three days.

Kazmi then tweeted in a harsh manner, “Promoting a film is basically Producer’s job along with actors. This is not Cinema’s job to promote your film ma’am. Still many cinemas did & they couldn’t even recover posters and standees cost. Over confident, self-centered & consider yourself a mega star, this happens.”

The actress responded to his rant, “Over confident, self-centered and megastar desires! That’s a first. Not sure what warranted a character attack sir. All ok?”

Kazmi alleged, “After watching your film, it was obvious that film was made by people who are self-centered, & consider them mega star with having a box office success history. Several your co actors claim that their scenes were chopped off. It was an informed claimed not personal attack.”

Saeed said, “Bhai Sahab I don’t know what issue your discussing here or what the context is. Nuplex @JBFilmsPK has replied to my concern, graciously. My issue is resolved I don’t know what resentment you are holding on to or why. Please end this here.”

Netizens criticised Kazmi for his remarks against the actors.

Shot in Pakistan and Thailand, Mohib Mirza’s directorial debut ‘Ishrat Made in China’ was released in cinemas around the country on March 3.

The movie stars include Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed, HSY, Sara Loren, Mustafa Chaudhary, Ali Kazmi, Nayyer Ejaz, Shabbir Jan, Mani, Shamoon Abbassi and Imam Syed.
