MQM-P, PML-Q suggest PM Imran Khan to step down
PTI government allies, MQM-P and PML-Q have suggested PM Imran Khan to step down if he wants to save his party’s rule in the Centre.
ISLAMABAD: The allies of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) have suggested Prime Minister Imran Khan step down if he wants to save his party’s rule in the Centre.
As the opposition’s no-confidence motion gained full momentum after Sindh House development, MQM-P and PML-Q central leaders have advised PM Imran Khan to think about options to save his government in the Centre.
While talking to the Geo News programme hosted by Shahzeb Khanzada yesterday, MQM-P Convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that it was a sorrowful situation after the recent political developments.

“The situation is miserable today. I think this situation should not be created. It should be in line with the democratic norms but now, it is very difficult.”
The host questioned if he is telling the incumbent government will not survive anymore. To this, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui replied, “Yes, it is difficult [that this government led by PTI will survive].”

“If this situation prevails, how will they survive? There is a need to take serious steps and, I think, if the advisers are good, then the democracy and the country can be saved [from any kind of crisis]. There are still many options left but I would prefer not to comment on it,” he added.

Khanzada questioned whether the PTI government could be saved too. Siddiqui replied that the PTI government could be saved [in the Centre], however, it is difficult for its survival in the presence of Imran Khan in the office. He clarified that it is his personal opinion on the current political scenario.
Khanzada questioned again whether the opposition’s no-confidence motion will go smoothly against PM Imran Khan with or without the PTI government’s allies. To this, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that it is probably true at this time.

Siddiqui’s statement was seconded by Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) central leader Tariq Bashir Cheema, saying that the MQM-P convenor explained the reality.
“If PM Imran Khan thinks that the no-confidence motion will succeed, then he should bring forward a personality who can ultimately be the consensus candidate for the position instead of adventurism to the last minute,” said Cheema.
