Senior journalist and anchorperson Kamran Khan has shed light on the military and politicians’ role in regime change in Pakistan, saying that even martial laws were jointly executed by military brass and politicians.

Kamran Khan shared a video clip of an interview of the slain Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Benazir Bhutto late on Twitter. He wrote, “Every regime change in Pakistan, even martial laws, always jointly executed by military brass and politicians.”

He said, “PPP, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) just change sides. Khan added, “Politico-military bond never breaks only names change in script.”

“Next change to bear the same stamp. Carefully watch this and remember!”

The video clip of Benazir Bhutto’s interview to Associated Press (AP) was dated 12 October 1999, the same day when a military takeover was initiated by the military staff at the Joint Staff HQ working under then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Pervez Musharraf in which they seized control of the civilian government of then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The slain PPP chairman could be heard supporting the military coup against Nawaz Sharif government and demanded the West not to support PML-N’s government.
