PML-N postpones long march ahead of govt allies’ decision on no-trust move

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has postponed the departure of its convoy for long march in Islamabad ahead of the government allies’ decision on the no-trust move.

The government allies including Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) are likely to announce their decision on the no-trust move against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sources said that the allies are likely to show their support in favour of the opposition parties on the no-trust move.

In view of the expected political developments, PML-N has postponed the departure to Islamabad for the long march.

Yesterday, an important session of the PML-N core committee was held under the chair of Shehbaz Sharif which was also attended by Nawaz Sharif via video link. It had been decided to postpone the long march for two days following the approval of Nawaz Sharif.

The PML-N convoys will depart for Islamabad from Lahore on March 26. They will reach Islamabad on March 27.

The PML-N had earlier decided to depart for Islamabad on March 24 and announced that Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz will lead the convoys.

According to the long march organisers, the convoys would take the routes from Gujranwala to Jhelum for Rawalpindi on March 26.

Sources told News360 that PML-N decided to postpone the long march for two days due to the final decision of the government allies on the no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan. In case of the government allies’ decision in favour of the opposition, PML-N would consider cancelling the long march, sources said.

Sources added that the government allies’ decision in favour of the opposition would force the premier to step down.

It is pertinent to mention here that PM Khan had announced to hold a massive public gathering of 1 million in Parade Ground Islamabad on March 27 to release the pressure of the no-trust move.
