Actors Shagufta Ejaz and Marina Khan have expressed their solidarity with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the current political crisis.
In a video, Shagufta Ejaz said, “We all are here to support Imran Khan. All Pakistanis have accepted Imran Khan as their leader. We are appealing to the election commission and the chief justice to decide on elections because the people should be given the chance to choose their leader.”
Criticising the new coalition government, Ejaz said that they could buy the consciences of lawmakers but not the 220 million population of the country. “We will make a decision and please, organise elections.”
Later, they raised slogans in support of Imran Khan in the video.
Earlier, more showbiz celebrities have come out in support of former prime minister Imran Khan. The celebrities include singer Asim Azhar, Atiqa Odho and Laila Zuberi.
Adiqa Odho wrote on Instagram, “#ImranKhan coming to #Karachi so now is the time to show him your support.”
Asim Azhar said, “Look what you’ve done PDM.. you’ve made Pakistan realise the importance of @ImranKhanPTI even more. Thank you. Can’t wait for the next elections!”
Layla Zuberi wrote on Twitter, “You are right” She also shared a post, stating that two things are proven now, including the diplomatic cable and [foreign] interference.
Popular TV show hosts had shown their support to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former prime minister Imran Khan after his ouster by the joint opposition.
Sidra Iqbal had shared the video of the massive PTI protest on Imran Khan’s call at Millenium Shopping Mall in Karachi with a caption, saying, “In their hearts and minds.”
In another tweet, Iqbal had said, “#ShehbazSharif takes charge as PM & @wasimakhtar1955 goes on record with his annoyance abt not mentioning & upholding understanding with @OfficialMqm that made “it” possible. If @ImranKhanPTI had a tricky term with electables/coalition, SS has an even meaner task at hand!”
Dr Shaista Lodhi had also expressed sorrow over the ouster of Imran Khan as the prime minister. She shared his photo on her Twitter account and said, “Sorry #ImranKhan… we dont deserve u.”
