WEB DESK: The famous novelist and playwright Bano Qudsia, affectionately known as Bano Aapa, has been felicitated by the search engine Google on her 92nd birth anniversary.
Google doodle honored the life and legacy of the luminary of Urdu literature.
Bano Qudsia was born on November 28, 1928, in Ferozepur, India. She was a spiritual writer and credited Urdu literature with novels, plays, and fiction.
Qudsia has written many excellent novels and fiction, of which Raja Gidh is considered the best in terms of popularity among readers.
Bano Aapa also wrote plays for television and stage in both Urdu and Punjabi.
Her stage play ‘Aadhi Baat’ was acclaimed as a classic play.
Bano’s family relocated to Lahore, Pakistan, after the partition of Indian sub-continent.
She started writing short stories during her school days.
Later on, she completed her Master’s in Urdu Literature, and during this time she wrote the novel “Amadgi Shoq”.

She married writer, playwright, and broadcaster Ashfaq Ahmed in December 1956.

She garnered the civilian awards Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan.

Bano Aapa passed away on February 4, 2017, in Lahore after a long illness.
