The legal expert Abuzar Salman Niazi has announced to file a contempt case in three days if Toshakhana records were not publicised.

The legal expert Abuzar Salman Niazi has announced to file a contempt case in three days if Toshakhana records were not publicised after the directives of the Pakistan Information Commission (PIC).

In July, the Pakistan Information Commission (PIC) took a major decision to publicise the details of gifts received by the presidents and prime ministers of the country during their tenures since 1947 at the request of legal expert Abuzar Salman Niazi.

Niazi wrote on Twitter that many have been asking about the update on Toshakhana case as PIC’s order dated June 28 directed the Cabinet Division to release the information of the gifts received by prime ministers and presidents.

He said that the cabinet division failed to implement the orders and he is going to file a contempt case within three days.

Niazi had earlier requested the cabinet secretary to unveil the said details, however, the request was denied but later PIC took a decision to issue a detailed report regarding the net worth of the gifts of the Toshakhana and its market value besides revealing the purchase amount of the gifts paid by the premiers and presidents.
